Spammy contents: Meta takes down 100m fake pages on Facebook. |
According to a report from TechCrunch, Meta will now limit the reach of posts that use mismatched images and text, and it will also revoke monetization privileges for such accounts. This measure directly targets creators who aim to mislead or take unfair advantage of Facebook’s promotional systems.
The crackdown also extends to coordinated spam networks. As per data revealed in Nairametrics, Meta removed over 100 million fake pages in 2024 alone, aiming to shut down sources of coordinated inauthentic behavior.
In addition, Meta is testing features that allow both users and page admins to flag comments that are off-topic, misleading, or impersonating others. This enhancement is expected to improve community moderation and curb the spread of deceptive engagement tactics.
Overall, these initiatives reflect Meta’s broader commitment to enhancing content integrity and reducing the impact of manipulative behavior across its platforms.
